Warthog at Kurisa Moya Guided nature walks are facinating

A wide variety of wildlife abounds on Kurisa Moya. You are likely to see samango and vervet monkeys and hear baboons barking on the mountain side. The indigenous forest plays host to to other animals: bushpig, duiker, bushbuck, bushbabies and other wildlife, while the elusive leopard lurks in the mountains.

Guests driving back to their accommodation venue at night are often lucky enough to see our nocturnal animal visitors - porcupine, civet, genet, caracal and cerval.  Down at the dam, warthog and otters may be spotted.  Mountain Reedbuck are often seen on the mountain grasslands.

Of course, there are the smaller creatures - geckos, lizards, snakes and chameleons.  Geckos are often found doing mosquito patrol on the walls of the lodges.  One of the more interesting reptiles uniquely found in this area is the Transvaal dwarf chameleon.   Photo of bushbaby
Bushbabies are common at Kurisa Moya

These tiny chameleons are sometimes found in the gardens or forest.  As in any wild habitat, snakes are around but are seldom encountered because they hear people coming and move off into the undergrowth.

Kurisa Moya's animals are not high density because they are naturally occurring and not stocked.  Tracks and signs of animals are always to be seen on the trails, even if the animals themselves are hiding.

A nature walk with a trained guide is a very interesting and informative activity for adults and kids.
