THE LANDSCAPE

Kurisa Moya Nature Lodge is a beautiful property, situated in the Northern / Limpopo Province of South Africa near Magoebaskloof and Polokwane. It measures 422 hectares of extraordinary landscape. Two mountains loom 1900 metres over the farm on one border overlooking the indigenous forest..

A beautiful indigenous forest nestles in the valley and is home to a large variety of lovely birds, animals and flora. Large stretches of pine plantations give way to African bushveld on the lower part of the farm where two dams are fed by clean mountain streams.

FLORA

The incredible indigenous forest is dotted with rare Yellow-woods and giant Cassonias. It has been untouched for hundreds of years and a walk on the forest trail offers absolute tranquility in an ancient forest. The pine plantations offer a different kind of beauty, with wild mushrooms poking out of the pine needle covered floor. The Koppie trail takes you through grassland and bushveld areas where Acacias and Aloes abound. Proteas and Erithrinas are found on the mountain trail to the top of Schnellkop.  Photo of mushroom in forest

Thomas Packenham's last book "In Search of Remarkable Trees"  has included the giant Cussonia
(Forest Cabbage Tree) from Kurisa Moya's forest.

CLIMATE

Because Kurisa Moya is situated between the lowveld and the highveld, it enjoys the benefits of both
climates and environments. The climate is temperate, but high summer rainfall makes the
farm lush and green. The farm is perfect for pine plantations and a variety of crops while the
indigenous forest boasts huge Yellow-woods and giant Kiepersols (cabbage trees).
